Not really. Some bands make music and post it freely online, or play shows that only make them $5. That doesn't even cover the gas to get there, so you can't say they're only doing it for the money.
SOME bands. Key word. I can name very few bands that don't enjoy the pay check now and again.
I do love it when they post music for free online. I'm not going to pay for a CD unless it's less then $10, but I will pay for a ticket for a show. Allowing me to enjoy your music for free at home increases the chances I will pay to go see you live.

"all bands attached to a label (and even those that aren't) are money driven."
Clearly not all of them are ;)
Also, just because they make money, doesn't mean that's the only reason they do it.
I've made a little money playing music, but I would have done it for free.

Why would anyone beat you? Nightwish is one of the most awful bands out there. Cradle of Filth is even worse. I had the displeasure of seeing them live once and they were so homosexual it made me want to kill myself. I will always have a soft spot for Disturbed's album Believe, but I would never disagree that they can't be totally awful.
And, uhhhhhhhh, up next, ummmmmmm, we have theeeeeee uhhhhhh Runaways with "Cherrybomb", sooooooooo I uhhhhh, hope you enjoy it. Yeah, give it a listen. Don't forget to spay and neuter your pets.
